Â
It was 11:50 PM, and I was sitting in my living room with documents all over the floor and the couch. I could barely breathe, the tightness gripping my chest.

I was feverishly trying to write descriptions for 100+ auction items, and the only person to blame was myself.

I was subcontracted for a well-known event production company, managing the silent auction for a prominent annual gala that raised over $500,000 each year.

It was early in my career, and this was the most complex auction I had ever worked on.

And, I’d waited until two days before the event to start.

I didn’t ask questions about what was expected. I felt overwhelmed every time I thought about it, so I kept shoving it to the bottom of my list.

All along, I had been sabotaging myself, putting off a huge task because I wasn’t really clear on what was involved or how long it would take.

Time was ticking, and I was panicked. By the day before the event, I was only â…“ of the way through. I reluctantly decided I needed to connect with the client and ask for some support.

The team jumped into action, and it got done. But damn, was I embarrassed.

This lesson was BIG. It’s where I realized how important it was to not only account for milestones, but to flesh out steps with time estimates, add lots of buffer, and start tasks early.

How often do you avoid tasks simply because you’re unclear on what they actually involve?

Â
We think we’re procrastinating because we’re lazy or disorganized – but more often, it’s uncertainty that stalls us out.

Here’s a quick exercise to break that paralysis:

STEP ONE: Pick a task you’ve been avoiding.
STEP TWO: Set a timer for 10 minutes.
STEP THREE: Write out:
STEP FOUR: Decide – what’s the very first step you could do today?
This process turns vague overwhelm into actionable clarity – and usually, you’ll find the task feels a lot less intimidating once you’ve broken it down.

P.S. I’ve seen how quickly things shift when you have structure and support. As my client put it:
“Moriah keeps me on my toes—in the best way. She helps me get things done, find solutions, and overcome self-imposed roadblocks. Moriah is very pragmatic, always constructive and an eternal optimist (but not one of the annoying kinds).” – Caroline-Lucie Ulbrich, Transformation Management Consultant
Vibe High’s Action + Accountability Circle is your chance to get that kind of support – secure your spot and get started this month.
